Literacy is an important focus of Kiwanis, and the Kiwanis Club of Cypress is proud to support young readers through our signature book project, Reading to Succeed.
Through this program, we provide children in our community with bags of books they can take home, keep, and enjoy. We partner with Summer Harvest, a local food distribution program, to reach families as they come to receive food assistance. While families pick up their food Kiwanis volunteers distribute book bags filled with age-appropriate books for their children.
Reading to succeed allows us to meet families where they are and help make books more accessible to children througout our community. By placing books directly into children’s hands, we hope to encourage reading, learning, and a lifelong love of literacy.
Because helping a child succeed can begin with something as simple as a book.
