The Kiwanis Club of Cypress was formed in November 1950 and chartered later that year. From its earliest days, the club brought together local farmers, dairymen, business owners and professionals with a shared commitment to serving the Cypress Community.
In the club’s early years, membership grew to approximately 75 members allowing the club to purchase its own building. When the building was later sold, the proceeds helped establish what became the club’s Kiwanis Foundation–creating a lasting resource for service in the community.
Growing Alongside Cypress
As Cypress grew from a community surrounded by dairy farms and strawberry fields into the city we know today, the Kiwanis Club of Cypress grew with it.
Over the decades, members have participated in many of the traditions and programs that shaped Cypress. Some belong to the club’s history, while others continue today, but all reflect a longstanding commitment to supporting local children, schools and families.
A Tradition of Service
Education and youth have always been at the heart of our work. Through scholarships, youth programs, community events, partnerships with local organizations and countless volunteer hours, generations of Cypress Kiwanians have found practical ways to make a difference.
Our methods have changed with the community, but our purpose has not: building friendships through service and helping make Cypresss a strong community for everyone.

More than 75 years after our founding, the Kiwanis club of Cypress continues to bring people together to serve our community and its children. We are proud of the members who built our club, grateful for those carrying that traditon forward today, and excited about the next chapter of service in Cypress.
